9/6/2022 Import of Veterinary Drugs and Feed Supplements to Russia (July 2022)
The growth rates of veterinary imports to Russia in monetary terms kept falling in January–July 2022. Russia imported 22 billion rubles’ worth of veterinary drugs (customs clearance and VAT included), down 0.8% from January–July 2021, and 25 billion rubles’ worth of feed supplements, down 0.1% from January–July 2021. In physical terms, the growth rate of the import of veterinary drugs was 4.7%, with 19.1 million packages imported. As for feed supplements, the import volume was 80,300 tons, down 16% from January–July 2021.
9/5/2022 Pharmaceutical Drug Import to Russia (July 2022)
In January–July 2022, Russia imported 459.4 billion rubles’ worth of ready-made pharmaceutical drugs (customs clearance and VAT included), up 6% from the same period in 2021. As for bulk drugs, the growth rate was 25.6%. In physical terms, the growth rates for both groups were negative. The import volume of ready-made drugs was around 942 million packages, down 10.2% from January–July 2021. If calculated in minimum dosage units (MDU), the import volume of ready-made drugs was 18.2 billion MDUs, down 12.2%. The growth rate of the import of bulk drugs was –32.4% in MDUs, with 903.2 million MDUs imported.
9/3/2022 Pharmaceutical Drug Production in Russia (July 2022)
In January–July 2022, Russian manufacturers produced 416.3 billion rubles’ worth of ready-made drugs (manufacturer’s prices, VAT included), up 27.1% from the same period in 2021. In physical terms, the production volume was 2.43 billion packages, up only 4.9% from January–July 2021. If calculated in minimum dosage units (MDU), the volume was 46.1 billion MDUs, 2.5% up from January–July 2021.

In January–July 2022, Russia imported 122 billion rubles’ worth of APIs (customs clearance and VAT included), up 6.1% from January–July 2021. In physical terms, however, the growth rate was as high as 19% (raw materials became cheaper due to ruble revaluation), with 11,300 tons imported.

In January–July 2022, the retail sales of veterinary drugs in Russia amounted to 12.6 billion rubles (retail prices, VAT included), down 3.5% from the same period in 2021. In physical terms, the sales were 81.1 million minimum dosage units (MDU), down 19.7% from January–July 2021.

While the pharmaceutical retail quickly returned to its usual state after the March rush demand, the crisis could not go without a trace. The market is still experiencing certain problems here and there, and suppliers have begun to review the effectiveness of product portfolios. To be fair, this does not mean that portfolios have been getting smaller—quite the opposite, the portfolios of Russian companies have been actively growing.
8/3/2022 Audit of Veterinary Drug Retail Sales on Russian Online Marketplaces in Q1–Q2 2022
From January to June 2022, the top Russian marketplaces sold 711.5 million rubles’ worth of veterinary drugs (retail prices, VAT included), comparable to the total sales last year (727.6 million rubles). However, the growth rates are slowing down, 84% in rubles, with Q1 contributing to the growth rates the most. In physical terms, the sales volume was 3.6 minimum dosage units (MDU), up 44% from Q1–Q2 2021.
8/2/2022 Database Update: Audit of Veterinary Drug Retail Sales in Russia (Q1–Q2 2022)
In Q1–Q2 2022, the offline sales of veterinary drugs in the Russian retail market were 10.8 billion rubles (retail prices, VAT included), down 2% from the same period in 2021. The spring rush demand was followed by a much calmer period, when consumers were using up what they had stocked up on. Besides, the online segment has been influencing the development of the market quite a lot, while continuing to grow and attracting consumers away from the offline segment. In physical terms, the growth rate was –19.2% in minimum dosage units (MDU), with 67.1 million MDUs sold.
7/29/2022 Import of Veterinary Drugs and Feed Supplements to Russia (June and Q1–Q2 2022)
In January–June 2022, Russia imported 18.5 billion rubles’ worth of veterinary drugs (customs clearance and VAT included), down 5% from the same period in 2021. The import of feed supplements was 21.9 billion rubles, up 4.1% from January–June 2021. In physical terms, the growth rates were negative for both groups: –1.3% for veterinary drugs, with 15.7 million packages imported, and –15.5% for feed supplements, with 68,000 tons imported.
