10/28/2022 Import of Veterinary Drugs and Feed Supplements to Russia (September and Q1–Q3 2022)
From January to September 2022, Russia imported 28.1 billion rubles’ worth of veterinary drugs (customs clearance and VAT included), 5.1% up from the same period last year. In physical terms, the growth rate was 7.6%, with 24.4 million packages imported. As for feed supplements, the growth rates in both monetary and physical terms are negative: –2.3% in rubles and –12.1% in tons. The import of feed supplements in January–September was 110,300 tons worth around 31.8 billion rubles.
10/27/2022 Pharmaceutical Drug Production in Russia (September and Q1–Q3 2022)
In January–September 2022, Russian manufacturers produced 528.1 billion rubles’ worth of ready-made drugs (manufacturer’s prices, VAT included), up 22% from the same period in 2021. In physical terms, the production volume was 3.09 billion packages, up 3.6% from January–September 2021. If calculated in minimum dosage units (MDU), the volume was 59 billion MDUs, 2.6% up from January–September 2021.

From January to September 2022, Russia imported 607.7 billion rubles’ worth of ready-made pharmaceutical drugs (customs clearance and VAT included, imports from the EEU excluded), up 9.4% from the same period in 2021. The import of bulk drugs grew 22.4%. In physical terms, the import of ready-made drugs was 1.24 billion packages, or 23.9 minimum dosage units (MDU), up 6.9% in packages and 8.6% in MDUs. As for bulk drugs, the growth rate was 38%, with around 1 billion MDUs imported.

In January–September 2022, Russia imported 149.7 billion rubles’ worth of APIs (customs clearance and VAT included), up 3.1% from the same period last year. This is one of the lowest growth rates in the past 12 years—a lower growth rate, 1.3%, was seen only in 2016. In physical terms, the growth rate hit a record high—25%, with 15,000 tons of APIs imported.

9/30/2022 Pharmaceutical Drug Import to Russia (August 2022)
In January–August 2022, Russia imported 535.5 billion rubles’ worth of ready-made pharmaceutical drugs (customs clearance and VAT included), up 9.4% from the same period in 2021. It was mainly the work in August that helped maintain positive growth rates. As for bulk drugs, the growth rate was 23.4%. In physical terms, the growth rates for both groups were negative. The import volume of ready-made drugs was around 1.1 billion packages, down 7.7% from January–August 2021. The import of bulk drugs was 983 million MDUs, down 34.6%.

In January–August 2022, Russia imported 134.1 billion rubles’ worth of APIs (customs clearance and VAT included), up only 5.2% from January–August 2021. In physical terms, the growth rate was as high as 25.3%, with 13,400 tons imported.

From January to August 2022, the offline sales of veterinary drugs in the Russian retail market were 14.2 billion RUB (retail prices, VAT included), down 5.4% from January–August 2021. In physical terms, the sales were 91.5 million minimum dosage units (MDU), down 21%.
9/9/2022 Top 20 Online Pharmaceutical Retailers in Russia (Q1–Q2 2022)
In Q1–Q2 2022, the online sales or reservations of pharmacy products (pharmaceutical drugs and parapharmaceuticals) in Russia were 142.5 billion rubles (end-user prices, VAT included), comparable to the total in 2020. The growth rate was 51.3% against 69.6% in Q1 2022. The online segment seems to have returned to a more or less standard consumption model in Q1–Q2 2022, but the segment was still far ahead of the offline channel in terms of growth rates.
