Database Update: Import of Pharmaceutical Drugs Made in EEU Countries to Russia (January 2019)
In January 2019, Russia imported 797.1 mln RUB worth of pharmaceutical drugs made in the EEU countries (wholesale priced, VAT included), which is in monetary terms 240% higher than that of January 2018. In physical terms, Russia imported 18.2 mln units, which is 260% higher than that of January 2018.
However, the dynamics is due to low import volumes in January 2018, rather than large import in January 2019. While the first months of 2018 saw disastrous import volumes from the EEU countries, the beginning of 2019 follow the usual trends. In January 2019, Russia also imported more units with more single doses.
In January 2019, 9 companies were importing from the EEU countries. Belmedpreparaty (Belarus) tops the ranking, with an over 3.1 times increase in monetary terms. It is followed by Minskintercaps, with a 3 times increase. The Russian company Pharmastandard produces Next Uno Express in Belarus, the import of which has increased by 2.7 times in monetary terms. Alvils has the worst dynamics (-92%), while in 2018 it used to have the best dynamics among the top 5 companies with the highest import volume in monetary terms. It is followed by Yerevan Chemical and Pharmaceutical Company with -70%.
In total, Russia imported 58 trademarks in January 2019, while 21 of those were not imported in January 2018. Among the new trademarks, erectile dysfunction dug Viasan-LF (Sildenafil) by Lekpharm (Belarus) has contributed to the total dynamics the most, despite having been imported to Russia before (until April 2017.)
