Database Update: Import of Veterinary Drugs, Feed Supplements, and APIs to Russia (October 2018)
Between January and October 2018, Russia imported 52.9 bln RUB worth of veterinary products (free circulation prices), which is in monetary terms 14 higher than that of the same period of 2017. Feed supplements have the biggest import volume, with 30.4 bln RUB and +15%. They are followed by veterinary drugs, with 20.9 bln RUB and +12.8%. Veterinary APIs are the last, with 1.6 bln RUB and + 11.7%.
The dynamics in physical terms are negative for all the categories. Veterinary APIs have experienced the biggest drop, with -17.5%, while the dynamics of feed supplements and veterinary drugs are -9.3% and -0.1%, respectively.
Among leading feed supplements producers, Daesung (South Korea) has the biggest increase in production. Russia still imports only their Sewon L-lysine, with a 27 times increase in monetary terms.
As for veterinary drugs, Montajat (Saudi Arabia) has increased its import by 17 times. Since January 2018, Russia has been importing 5 of their products, mainly Colijat and Doxyjat, both are used for treatment of respiratory and gastro-intestinal diseases of bacterial etiology among livestock and fowls.
The absolute leader in the increase of veterinary API import is Sel Biochem (China), with a 43 times increase. Russia has been importing their Colistin sulfate since October 2017.
