Database Update: Pharmaceutical Drug Export from Russia (December 2018)
In 2018, Russia exported 26.1 bln RUB worth of pharmaceuticals drugs (customs duties included, exports to the EEU countries excluded), which is in monetary terms 19.3% higher than that in 2017 – the highest dynamics in the past 3 years. The dynamics in physical terms are -11.9%, with 520.1 mln units of pharmaceuticals.
Russia exports not only Russian-made pharmaceuticals. In 2018, Russian-made pharmaceutical drugs accounted for around 64.6% of the total export in monetary terms. German- and Belarusian-made pharmaceuticals that were previously imported to Russia account for 5.5% and 4%, respectively. In total, pharmaceuticals made in 68 countries are exported from Russia.
Between January and 2018, Russia exported pharmaceutical drugs from 504 manufacturing companies, against 528 in 2017. Despite the lower number, there were several new names in 2018. Among them, SG Biotech contributed to the export dynamics the most, exporting Octofactor and Coagil-VII to Moldova, Venezuela, and Spain. Chumakov Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immune and Biological Products of RAS remains the leader in export volume in monetary terms, with 10% of the export. Its Yellow Fever Vaccine contributed to the dynamics (+48%.) Among the top 15 companies, Sanofi has the best dynamics (a 3.8 times increase.) Its Lantus and Apidra contributed to the dynamics in 2018. The company was pretty much returning these products.
