RNC Pharma: After Decrease in June, Average Receipt in Russian Pharmacies Keeps Growing for the Second Month in a Row
In January–August 2024, the average receipt in Russian pharmacies was 688 rubles, up 12% from the same period in 2023. Pharmaceutical drugs account for over 80% of the receipt, contributing to the growth rates. The average receipt for pharmaceutical drugs in the analyzed period was 556 rubles, up 13% from January–August 2023. As for parapharmaceuticals, the average receipt was 132 rubles, up 11% from January–August 2023.
Seasonal fluctuations in retail tend to have a significant impact on the average receipt: it usually decreases in the summer but grows in the fall and in the winter. After falling to 673 rubles in June 2024, the average receipt started to grow steadily in July and then reached 695 rubles in August, with medicines accounting for 566 rubles. The average receipt for parapharmaceuticals also varied greatly from month to month, peaking in June with 152 rubles, when the average receipt for pharmaceutical drugs was the lowest.
Only two Russian regions, Moscow and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, saw the average receipt exceed 1,000 rubles in January–August 2024. It was 1,084 rubles in the capital, and 1,063 rubles in Chukotka. In June 2024, the average receipt in Moscow was at an eight-month-high (1,108 rubles). As for the average receipt for pharmaceutical drugs, it hit an eight-month-high in August with 830 rubles.
