RNC Pharma: After Decrease in June, Average Receipt in Russian Pharmacies Keeps Growing for the Second Month in a Row
The Russian aesthetic injectable market has a very high growth potential, since the demand is growing together with the popularization of non-surgical rejuvenation technologies. In January–June 2024, the Russian retail market of beauty fillers and biorevitalization products went up 21% from the same period last year, reaching 10.9 billion rubles (retail prices, VAT included).
In total, products of 180 brands were sold on the market in the analyzed period, up three from last year. The Belotero hyaluronic acid fillers by Merz (Germany) were the best-selling fillers, accounting for around 14% of the total sales in monetary terms. Their sales went up 14% in rubles and up 13% in minimum dosage units (MDU). Novacutan by Laboratoires Fijie (France) ranked second with 9.2%; its sales increased 39% from January–June 2023. The Radiesse fillers by Merz, used mainly for face lifting, ranked third. Unlike most fillers, the main active ingredient of these fillers is calcium hydroxyapatite, not hyaluronic acid.
Plinest by Mastelli (Italy) had the best growth rates among the top 10 best-selling fillers, with its sales growing 73% in rubles and 69% in MDUs. Stylage by Laboratoires Vivacy ranked second—its sales went up 49% in monetary and up 36% in physical terms. Juvederm by Allergan saw the most significant decline in sales (down 41% in rubles and down 55% in MDUs). Since official imports by AbbVie were suspended due to the sanctions in 2022, the product has been rapidly losing popularity among Russian consumers. The Juvederm fillers used to consistently rank second, but now keep losing market share. In Q1–Q1 2024, it ranked eighth in terms of sales in rubles.
In January–June 2024, several new beauty fillers, mainly Korean-made, appeared on the market. The new Russian-made products include Ellagen by Aptos, a dermal filler for volume restoration. The top 10 best-selling fillers include Collost by Russian Biofarmakholding, an injectable collagen for replenishing the skin’s natural collagen. This product had high growth rates (up 44% in rubles), ranking seventh.
