Database Update: Import of Veterinary Drugs, Feed Supplements, and APIs to Russia (February 2019)
Between January and February 2019, Russia imported 9.0 bln RUB worth of veterinary products (free circulation prices, VAT included), which is in monetary terms 8.6% higher than that of the same period in 2018. Russia imported nearly 5.0 bln RUB of feed supplements (+6.4% in monetary terms), 3.7 bln RUB of veterinary drugs (+12.5%), and 0.36 bln RUB of veterinary APIs (+1.6%.)
The dynamics of the import of feed supplements and veterinary drugs in physical terms are also high, +16.0% and +29.6%, respectively. However, the dynamics of the import of veterinary APIs in physical terms are still negative, more than -5.0%. The product line of feed supplements for the period included 310 trademarks, against 296 in 2018. Metamino by Evonika has the highest import in monetary terms, with a 5.8 times increase. Among the top 10 trademarks with the highest import in monetary terms, Palmifat by Viamin is the leader with a 16.5 times increase.
Between January and February 2019, Russia was importing 356 trademarks of veterinary drugs, which is 16 trademarks higher than in 2018. Pet arachnoentomosis drug Bravecto by MSD has the highest import dynamics (an 11.3 times increase in monetary terms.) Antiparasitic Simparica by Zoetis, which had not been imported to Russia during the first months of 2018, is now one of the leaders.
As for veterinary APIs, the product line has lost only one trademark (to 39). Doxycyclinum Hyclate by Kongshang Chemical and Pharmaceutical (China) has the highest import dynamics in monetary terms. The API was mainly imported by Russian veterinary drug manufacturer VIC, for the production of antibacterial granulated powder Doxyprem, although VIC is not the only one.
