Database Update: API Import to Russia (February 2019)
Between January and February 2019, Russia imported 18.9 bln RUB worth of APIs (free circulation prices, VAT included), which is in monetary terms 26% higher than that of the same period in 2018. In physical terms, the dynamics are -7.5% (1.6 tons of APIs.)
The first months of 2019 practically follow the tendencies of 2018; growing prices against lower demands. The average prices have risen by 24% over the period, which contributes to the import dynamics the most. The import line has grown by 35 API names. Between January and February 2019, 285 companies were importing pharmacopoeial APIs to Russia, which is 5 companies higher than in 2018. Among the top 15 companies with the highest import volume in monetary terms, Shionogi (Japan) is noteworthy. In November 2018, it started importing Dolutegravir Sodium for the production of anti-HIV Tivicay by ViiV Healthcare. Bayer (Germany) also accounts for high import volumes. Over the period, it was importing Iopromide for the full-cycle production of Ultravist by Polysan, which started in December 2018.
However, the number of the companies importing technical APIs to Russia has dropped by 9, from 37 to 28. Among the new companies, Livzon Synthpharm (China) contributed a lot to the dynamics. Sintez (Kurgan, Russia) imported its Ceftriaxone Sodium for the production of antibiotic Ceftriaxone.
