Database Update: Import of Veterinary Drugs, Feed Supplements, and Veterinary APIs to Russia (December 2018)
In 2018, Russia imported 64.3 bln RUB worth of veterinary products (free circulation prices), which is in monetary terms 7.8% higher than that in 2017. Feed supplements have the highest import volume in monetary terms (36.5 bln RUB), and the lowest dynamics in monetary terms as well (7.2%.) The import volume of veterinary drugs is 25.9 bln RUB (+8.6% in monetary terms), while that of veterinary APIs is 1.9 bln RUB (+8.1% in monetary terms.)
In physical terms, the dynamics of the import of veterinary APIs are -29.6% if calculated in kilograms and -10.2% if calculated in units. Only the import of veterinary drugs has positive dynamics, +4.5%. If calculated in minimum dosage units (MDU), the dynamics of the import of veterinary drugs are +27%, while those of the import of feed supplements are +12.3%.
Among the producers of feed supplements, PT Cheil Jedang (Indonesia) is the absolute leader in monetary terms in 2018. It imported to Russia only 4 products, but its import had increased by more than 4 times by 2017. Among the top 15 companies, Daesung (South Korea) has the highest dynamics, the import of its Sewon L-Lysine has increased by 20 times in monetary terms.
As for the importers of veterinary drugs, MSD is the top company, despite its negative dynamics (-10.4% in monetary terms.) In 2018, it imported 39 products, 11 out of which have negative dynamics. Among the top 15 companies, Boehringer Ingelheim has the highest dynamics in monetary terms (+64%). Its key product is Ingelvac, which accounts for 37% of the company’s import in monetary terms.
Huvepharma is the absolute leader among the importers of veterinary APIs. In 2018, it imported only Tylosin Tartrate, the import of which has increased by 2 times in monetary terms. Qilu Xingwa Pharmaceutical (China) has the highest dynamics among the top companies (a 3.6 times increase), the import of its Ceftiofur Hydrochloride has grown by 6.6 times.
