Database Update: Import of Veterinary Drugs, Feed Supplements, and Veterinary APIs to Russia (March and Q1 2017)
Between January and March 2017, Russia imported 11.2 bln RUB worth of veterinary products (free circulation prices), with 5.8 bln RUB accounting for feed supplements and premixes and 5 bln RUB accounting for veterinary drugs. The dynamics in monetary terms is negative, with -11.7% for feed supplements and -9.6% for veterinary APIs. However, the import of veterinary APIs in physical terms have risen by 20%, while still a small part of the import of veterinary products.
In physical terms, the imports have increased significantly. Between January and March, Russia imported around 6 mln units of veterinary drugs, which is 27% higher than last year. As for feed supplements, Russia imported nearly 1.8 mln units, which is 23% higher than last year. The veterinary API imports have been record-worthy, with a 62% increase and 256.6 tons.
MSD is the main importer of veterinary drugs, with 32% of the import. Despite the decrease in imports, its volumes have still risen by 3%. The Chinese company Ninxia Eppen Biotech is the leader in the import of feed supplements, with 23% of the import. However, its import has risen by only 0.6% in monetary terms. Zhejiang Guobang Pharmaceutical is the leader in the import of veterinary APIs, with 11%. Its import has fallen by 27% in monetary terms, though.
