Database Update: Import of Veterinary Drugs, Feed Supplements, and Veterinary APIs to Russia (June and 1st Half of 2017)
Between January and June 2017, Russia imported 10.9 bln RUB worth of veterinary drugs (free circulation prices), 0.8 bln RUB worth of veterinary APIs, and 13.2 bln RUB worth of feed supplements and premixes. The import of veterinary APIs has the best dynamics in monetary terms (6.7%). The import of feed supplements shows the worst dynamics, with only 2.9%. The import of veterinary drugs has risen by 5.2%.
However, the dynamics in physical terms are better. The import of veterinary drugs and feed supplements has risen by nearly 28%. However, while the import of feed supplements rose due to the rising demand, the import of veterinary drugs rose due to smaller units. Between January and June 2017, Russia imported 13.7 mln units of veterinary drugs and 4.1 mln units of feed supplements. The import of veterinary APIs in physical terms amounted to 486.5 tons, which is 31.5% higher than that of the same period of 2016.
MSD is still the leader in the import of veterinary drugs, with 30% of the import. Zoetis has made the best progress among the 10 largest veterinary drug importers, with a 70% increase in monetary terms (11.1% of the import.) Ningxia Eppen Biotech is the leader in the import of feed supplements, with 22.3% of the import. The Belgian Novus International has made the best progress among the 10 largest feed supplement importers, with a 2.3 times increase. Zhejiang Guobang Pharmaceutical is the leader in the import of veterinary APIs, with 9.7%.
