Database Update: Veterinary Drug and API Import to Russia (December 2017)
Among veterinary products, feed supplements led the way in import volume in 2017, with 32.8 mln RUB (free circulation prices). Since 2016, feed supplement import has increased by 6.2% in monetary terms. Veterinary drug import has risen by 7.6% in monetary terms, with the volume amounting to more than 23.8 mln RUB. Veterinary API import shows the best progress with 12.9% and 1.8 bln RUB.
Feed supplement import has the lowest growth rate in physical terms among the three products, with 3.4%, which is considerably lower than its progress in monetary terms. In 2017, Russia imported 10.7 mln units of feed supplements. Veterinary drug import has increased by 14% and amounts to 27.8 mln units. Veterinary API import shows the best progress here too, with 32% and more than 1,000 kg of units.
Importer Rusmedtorg contributed the most to imports in monetary terms, substantially changing both the product line and supplier companies. The number of transactions by the company has increased by 3.4 times over the year. Laboratorios Hipra and Zoetis contributed to veterinary drug imports, with a 42% and 37% increase in performance. Both companies benefited mostly from exporting vaccines Unistrain PRRS and Bovi Shield, respectively. As for feed supplements, Indonesian Pt. Cheil Jedang, which imports only 4 products, showed the best performance. Over the year, the company’s imports in monetary terms have doubled.
